About Young Life: For Parents
Young Life Grande Prairie is part of a world-wide organization for adolescents. Our staff and volunteers enter the world of teens, focusing on what matters to them — fun, adventure, friendship, and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about life, relationships, leadership, and the Christian faith. By being part of Young Life, teenagers build healthy relationships with peers and adult mentors.
The main event of the Young Life week is club. You can find a description of a typical club night here.
Supported by many local churches, Young Life is a non-denominational Christian organization. However, there is no criteria for teenagers to be part of Young Life: teens of all backgrounds take part in Young Life programs.
We take great care to ensure that Young Life staff and volunteers will be a positive influence on teenagers. All Young Life Leaders undergo new leader training and a mandatory screening process which includes an interview, reference check, criminal background check, and driver questionnaire. Leaders receive ongoing training and supervision from professional staff. These outstanding adults volunteer over 600 per year to make themselves available as friends and mentors to teenagers.
